The pilot of a vintage aircraft which crashed during a display at a Bedfordshire air show has died, police have confirmed.
His plane came down at Old Warden Aerodrome, near Biggleswade, during the event attended by more than 600 people.
The man, said to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital but later died. Organisers cancelled the show.
The de Havilland DH 53 crashed at the back of the airfield while taking part in a display.
The military pageant being held at the airfield, home to the Shuttleworth Collection, was cancelled immediately.
Bedfordshire Police said they worked alongside the fire and rescue service, East of England Ambulance Service and the aerodrome's own fire service to help the pilot.
The incident is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Branch who said: "A team of inspectors have been despatched to the site to determine the circumstances behind the accident."
The Shuttleworth Collection confirmed in a statement on its website that an aircraft had experienced difficulties and crashed.
"Emergency services and the air ambulance were called to the scene and one casualty [was] airlifted to hospital.
"We are not releasing details of the person's identity," the statement said.
