Five aid workers kidnapped in north-eastern Afghanistan last month have been freed in an operation by Afghan and Nato special forces, officials say.
The two foreign nationals, both women, and three Afghan aid workers were released after an operation in Badakhshan province late on Friday.
The five, employed by Switzerland-based aid group Medair, had been en route to the area by donkey when taken.
Five of the hostage-takers were killed during the operation, officials say.
