The QPR midfielder, from West Bergholt, near Colchester, admitted the offence but did not appear at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court.
Dyer, 33, was driving a Porsche at 50mph in a 40mph limit at Pinewood, Ipswich, in December, the court heard.
Dyer was also given three points on his licence and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
A second charge of failing to disclose the identity of the driver in relation to the speeding offence was discontinued.
Dyer played only once last season due to injury, but in May 2012 he signed a new one-year contract with QPR.
The Ipswich-born former England international began his playing career at the Suffolk club and returned there on loan while playing for West Ham in 2011.
He spent eight seasons at Newcastle United, between 1999 and 2007.
