Paris (CNN) -- Algeria is refusing to accept the body of Mohammed Merah for burial, Merah's father said Thursday, citing French authorities.
Merah's father, Mohammed Ben Allal, wanted his son buried in the family's ancestral home of Algeria after he was killed by police, who accused him of shooting dead three paratroopers and three children and a rabbi at a Jewish school in southern France.
The French Foreign Ministry refused to comment on where Merah would be buried, calling it "a private matter."
Abdallah Zekri, a representative of the Grand Mosque of Paris, said Thursday the mosque was making arrangements to bury Merah within the next day.
