It is understood the 15-year-old's mother Danielle Wilson will fly to Bordeaux to accompany Megan back to Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Teacher Jeremy Forrest, 30, has been arrested by French police on suspicion of child abduction.
The pair were found in Bordeaux on Friday, after a sighting on Thursday.
Megan had been reported missing by her family after she failed to turn up at Bishop Bell C of E School, in Eastbourne, on Friday 21 September.
It later emerged that she and Mr Forrest had caught a ferry from Dover to Calais the day before.
Following the news they had been found, Megan's stepfather Martin Stammers said: "Danielle and I are so relieved that Megan has been found safe and well. We just can't wait to be reunited with her.
"Our family are overjoyed at the outcome. As you can imagine, it's been an absolute emotional rollercoaster."
Mr Forrest is in custody in Bordeaux on a European arrest warrant, and "British police say the legal process could take several days before he is returned for formal questioning", said the BBC's Paris correspondent Christian Fraser.
In a statement read to the media, Mr Forrest's parents, Jim and Julie Forrest, said they were relieved the pair had been found, and it had been "an ordeal for all the families concerned".
Sussex Police say Megan is now being looked after in France by child protection team officers and British consular staff.
Terry Boatwright, head teacher at Bishop Bell C of E School, said: "Throughout the last week, finding Megan has been everyone's priority and a major focus of our thoughts and prayers in school.
"Clearly, much needs to be done now to support Megan, and her family, as they seek to return to some sort of normality and we will do all we can to play our part in that."
